    Superfoods:
The Superfoods icon represents foods that provide health benefits beyond their basic nutrient content.  Some examples of Superfoods are:
    • Tomatoes-  Tomatoes provide one of the best sources of the potent antioxidant, lycopene, as well as vitamins A and C.  By cooking tomatoes, we are able to absorb lycopene more easily, making tomatoes a great nutrition booster for sauces, stews and soups.
    • Whole Grains-  Studies show that eating whole grains instead of refined grains lowers the risk of many chronic diseases. While benefits are most pronounced for those consuming at least 3 servings daily, some studies show reduced risks from as little as one serving daily.
    • Squash- Under the sturdy outer skin of winter squash lays a vitamin rich center. These hardy gourds are safely encased packages of nutritious, sweet and creamy flesh that provide beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium and dietary fiber.
    • Yogurt -  Calcium, protein, vitamin D and probiotics make yogurt a well balanced food that scores high on the nutrient density scale.
