  • Balance Controlled Sodium
As part of Balance, we offer information to enable our customers to make knowledgeable choices. The Balance Icon system makes it easy to identify menu items that meet specific nutrition criteria. Whether you are looking for items that support your weight management goals or ones that meet your dietary preferences, the Balance Icons will quickly and easily direct you to what you need. Items that meet the below criteria have been identified through our proprietary recipe management system and will be labeled with the appropriate icon on our menus and signs in the café.
FIT – Moderate in calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium.
Vegetarian – Does not contain meat, fish or poultry but may contain dairy and/or eggs.
    Sodium-Controlled:
Excessive sodium or “salt” intake may be associated with increased blood pressure; therefore, limiting sodium may allow individuals to manage blood pressure and underlying medical conditions.  The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans state that everyone, including kids, should reduce their sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium a day (about 1 teaspoon salt). Adults age 51 and older, African Americans of any age, and individuals with high blood pressure, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease should further reduce their sodium intake to 1,500 mg a day.
The Sodium‐Controlled icon represents menu items which are lower in sodium:
    • Entrée (only):  ≤400mg
    • Side Item:  ≤250mg
    • Soup:  ≤500mg
